Privacy policy
Sohva Remote collects no data. It has no analytics, no ads and no account. It talks only to your TV, on your own network.
What the app talks to
The app connects only to the Sony Bravia TV you pair it with, over your local network. It does not send anything to us or to any other server on the internet.
What stays on your phone
To work, the app keeps a few things on the phone itself:
- The TV's address and name.
- The pairing cookie or pre-shared key, and the Android TV Remote certificate. These are encrypted with the Android Keystore.
- Your settings: scenes, timers and haptics.
- App icons fetched from the TV, cached so the inputs and apps list loads fast.
App backups are turned off, so none of this is copied to a cloud backup.
Voice input
When you dictate text or say a voice command, the phone's own speech recognizer does the listening. That is usually Google's, or another provider you have chosen, and its privacy policy applies to the audio. Sohva Remote receives only the recognized text, uses it for that one command or search, and does not store it.
Phone state permission
The app asks for the phone state permission (READ_PHONE_STATE) only if you turn on Mute the TV during calls. It is used to know when a call starts ringing and when it ends, so the TV can be muted and unmuted. Nothing about the call is read or stored.
Deleting your data
Uninstalling the app deletes everything it stored. You can also clear the app's storage in Android settings.
